Dales Bike Centre - Official Opening

The Dales Bike Centre is the Yorkshire Dales National Parks only dedicated cycle visitor facility, situated at Fremington, near Reeth, North Yorkshire.

The grand opening of the Dales Bike Centre

The centre is the culmination of five years of effort for the owners, Brenda and Stuart Price, who have worked through planning and building objections to convert a derelict stone barn and build an adjacent building providing bike hire, servicing, repairs, accommodation, cafe, bike wash, rider showers/toilets and information point. Environmentally friendly materials and processes have been used wherever possible (e.g. ground sourced heating system).

Brenda and Stuart asked for our assistance in the planning and management of the official opening ceremony on March 2nd 2009.

Working closely with the centre owners, arrangements were made for the “big day” and the arrival of the official guests plus the many additional visitors who turned up on the day - quite a task, especially for Brenda and Stuart who were working in the business day to day as well as trying to turn the area from a building site into the present pleasant environment (not to mention also looking after their young family!).

It was agreed that the local media would be invited to attend and specific press releases (post event) were prepared for a wider audience and the trade press (Singletrack and MBR magazines). Articles, with photographs, appeared in the Northern Echo (daily regional/north), The Darlington and Stockton Times (weekly local) plus the Saturday Leisure Supplement of the Yorkshire Post (regional), plus a report on Fresh Radio (local).

Stuart Price was more than pleased,

“the feedback has been tremendous, especially as we had so little time to prepare, so the help from David and his team was really welcome”.

The event was a memorable, enjoyable day - Look out for items regarding forthcoming events appearing on local TV and radio as well as the newspapers, magazines and websites.
